Ruthie Foster, Porterdavis, Carolyn Wonderland, Bruce Robison and Patrice Pike to play Austin Yam Jam

September 30, 2007 - After the show

Thank you to everyone who came out and showed their support of Operation Turkey today. The show went off without a hitch. The rain stayed away and allowed for a great show.

I would like to thank Ruthie Foster, Bruce Robison, Carolyn Wonderland, porterdavis and Patrice Pike for their performances. I would also like to extend my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Jeff Plankenhorn for playing an adhoc set when we needed some extra performance. He did such a great job. If you are a booking agent in town I strongly recommend Jeff for your venue.

Overall the day raised close to $10,000.00 for Operation Turkey. We will use your donations wisely. It will all go to buying groceries for Thanksgiving.

Thank you also goes out to KGSR, WAMU, Sweet Leaf Tea, the Girl Next Door and Threadgills for their support. Additionally, this show could not have happened without the support of David Cotton and Eddie Wilson of Threadgills. Thank you David and Eddie.

Thank you also goes out to James Walton who designed the t-shirts and website for the Yam Jam and Jenna Reblin who ran the t-shirt sales. Great job James and Jenna. You two did a great job and I thank you for it.

As far as sound goes, we could not have done it without Randy at Threadgills. Randy you did a fantastic job. If you are a venue and are in need of a great sound guy that every band loves to deal with, Randy is your man.

Please share the story with your friends, family and coworkers. Send an email to volunteers@operationturkey.com to volunteer for this year's Thanksgiving.

Thank you once again for coming to the show and I look forward to seeing each of you next year at the Austin Yam Jam.

September 30, 2007 - SHOW IS TODAY!

As you are aware the weather may be a little finicky today. I am sure we will be able to put on a great show and if it rains, it may only be for a couple minutes and we will make sure that we have dry places for people to stand while we wait for it to pass. But with an event this stacked with talent, mother nature may provide us a reprieve from yesterday's rain.

See you at the show. Be sure to look for the Austin Yam Jam shirts. Only $10 and what a great way to remember the day. All proceeds go to Operation Turkey.

Richard

As we get closer to the event, your tickets can be purchased for will call pickup at the show. Click here to buy tickets.

But if you don't buy your ticket early, we will still have room for you at the Yam Jam. Just get there early and enjoy the show. 100% of your ticket is tax-deductible so know that even though the "at the door" price is $15, it is still a great cause and a great deal. That comes to only $3 per artist. Where else could you see Ruthie, Bruce, Carolyn, porterdavis or Patrice for $3?

On a very good side note, the city has proclaimed Sunday, September 30th "Austin Yam Jam Day." They are very proud to see the Austin Yam Jam fit into the "I Live Here, I Give Here" campaign. There is a good chance that Mayor Will Wynn himself may show up to hand out the proclamation.

See you at the show.

The official lineup of artists for the 2007 Austin Yam Jam was announced today. The day-long family-friendly music festival will bring awareness, volunteers and donations to Operation Turkey - a non-profit organization that feeds and clothes the homeless in Austin, Texas.

Ruthie Foster, Porterdavis, Carolyn Wonderland, Bruce Robison and Patrice Pike will be playing the day-long music festival at Threadgills - Armadillo World Headquarters on Sunday, September 30, 2007. The event starts at 2:00 PM and will go until 8:00 PM.

The Austin heavyweights on the lineup are reason enough to attend the event, but the real treat is that 100% of each fan admission goes directly towards feeding and clothing the homeless in Austin. The full lineup is available at www.AustinYamJam.com along with information about the event and Operation Turkey - the host of the event.

"Combine these amazing musicians, Threadgill's great food and to top it off have 100% of your ticket price go towards feeding and clothing the homeless. Could you ask for a better way to spend the last Sunday in September?" said Richard Bagdonas, Managing Director of Operation Turkey and creator of the Austin Yam Jam. "The Yam Jam is the best way to end the summer that has been plagued with cancelled shows due to the significant rain in central Texas."

Although the lineup has been circulating in rumormills around Austin, the official lineup wasn't released until Patrice Pike was signed.

The show happens September 30th at Threadgills downtown location at 301 West Riverside. The event will serve up performances from some of Austin's best musicians. Unlike many outdoor music events, the Austin Yam Jam allows the fans to get up close and personal with the performers - producing a more intimate environment than the big Zilker Park shows.

Pre-sale tickets will go on sale on August, 31, 2007. Each ticket is tax-deductible. Children under 12 get in FREE.
